Daragang Magayon: An Istorya ni Mayon is a full-length contemporary dance inspired by the legend of Mt. Mayon in Albay.
This production, is a coming together of various masters of different crafts to create a truly Filipino masterpiece– from literature to animation and videography, acting to dance, fashion design and music.
National Artist Virgilio Alamario created its poetry, dramaturgy is by Abdon M. Balde Jr. and National Artist for Music Ramon Santos composed its original score. Filmmaker Chuck Escasa and animator Benjie Marasigan provide their own artistic rendition of the legend of the Mayon Volcano in 2D. And E-dance Artistic Director, Gerald Mercado bridges modern and contemporary dance with dances of early Albay settlers in the choreography.
It will showcase dancers from Seven Contemporary Dance Company, Airdance, Chameleon Dance Theatre, Ballet Philippines, E-dance Theater, Ballet Manila and other Independent Contemporary Dance Artists in Manila.
